Previous Scholarship Winners
Cameron Lowe is from Grand Saline, Texas. He currently has a private pilot’s license and with the help of the scholarship has finished up his instrument rating (IFR}. He is now pursuing his commercial rating. The scholarship award will contribute to further instruction in obtaining that license. Cameron is looking at using his piloting skills with a terrain mapping institution, a state flying job or a similar position within the state that entails flying.

Nicholas Glover began his aviation mechanic career at Edge Aviation in Commerce, Texas between his junior and senior year in high school. After graduation, he is now working full time as an apprentice mechanic at Edge. He will continue his training until he is fully prepared to attend Baker School of Aeronautics in Nashville, TN. After an intense month of preparation, Nicholas will then take his oral and practical examination with the FAA. Upon completion, Nicholas will be a fully qualified Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) mechanic. His goal is to further his A&P to becoming an A&P with FAA Inspection Authority (IA).

Bart Harper is a flight attendant with Southwest Airlines. He earned a private pilot’s license as well as instrument and commercial ratings. With the help of the Tailwind Airpark Community Aviation Scholarship, Bart has completed his instruction to become a Certified Flight Instructor (CFI). Bart’s aim is to guide students through the arduous and expensive process to obtain their licenses.

Elias Stroud has used the scholarship award to complete his Private Pilot license, the first step in the arduous training to become an airline pilot. Elias is attending Texas A&M School of Aviation Sciences in Killeen. His goal is to become a commercial airline pilot. The scholarship will continue to support his flight training as he continues on the path to a professional pilot career.
